Here are 5 easy licks on electric guitar.
The licks use a variety of different scale types, rhythms, and guitar techniques, which will help you develop a broader knowledge of the fretboard and guitar theory.

Lick 1: Whole Tone Hammer-ons
For the first lick, you’ll use the whole tone scale on the G and B strings.
On each string, you’ll pick and then hammer-on. Use your index (1) and ring (3) fingers on your fret hand.
Lick 2: E Minor Scale Descending
For the second lick, you’ll play a G major barre shape on fret 12 of the D, G, and B strings.
From there, you’ll start at fret 15 of the B string and descend through the E minor scale until you land on the 5th fret of the B string.
Lick 3: Double Stops
For the third lick, you’ll play double stops in the E minor pentatonic scale. Play the double stops using barre shapes with your index and ring fingers.
Lick 4: Hybrid Picking Blues Lick
For the fourth lick, you’ll play a simple hybrid picking lick using the A minor blues scale.
You’ll use your guitar pick to play the 7th fret of the D string, and use your middle finger to hybrid pick the other notes in the guitar lick.
Lick 5: G Major Diatonic Arpeggios
For the fifth lick, you’ll play the first 6 diatonic arpeggios from the G major scale. This gives you the arpeggios:
G Major – A Minor – B Minor – C Major – D Major – E Minor
Play these shapes using this picking pattern: Down-Down-Up
It’s essentially an easy sweep picking pattern.
